La Défense : Paris Business District
The district of La Defense is built on an area of 160 hectares, which includes many powerful tertiary activities.
We thus find in the business district, a majority of offices, but also public spaces such as hanging gardens, ponds and sixty works of art that make the Defense a genuine open-air museum.
This district owes its name to the building erected by Barrias in 1871 to commemorate the defense of Paris against the Prussians.
Divided into 11 sectors, this set covers the municipalities of Puteaux, Courbevoie and Nanterre essentially.
Above the pedestrian slab 1200 m2, stand many towers. the highest has of 45 floors, and more than 900 companies are located in the Defense.
